WEDDING WEDNESDAY PHOTO | TREE CAKE

This week's "Wedding Wednesday" Photo of the Week was taken during an episode taping of David Tutera's, My Fair Wedding, where I was hired by David to photograph the wedding day.  The bride's wedding cake was created by Jason Ellis of Top Tier Cakes in Farmingdale, NY.  Jason has competed on numerous Food Network cake challenges.  Since I love the unusual, I wanted to feature this "tree" cake.  I hope you enjoy this "Photo of the Week".  Click on image to enlarge.

WEDDING WEDNESDAY PHOTO | CHRISTINE

This week's "Wedding Wednesday" Photo of the Week was taken at a church in Greenwich, CT.  The bride was having a moment to herself just before walking down the aisle.  As she leaned in front of the beautiful stained glass window, I captured her in deep thought...as I'm sure she had a thousand things running through her mind at that time.  I also loved the architecture in the foreground.  I hope you enjoy this "Photo of the Week".  Click on image to enlarge.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK | CHOW-CHOW PUPPIES!!!

This week's "Photo of the Week" was taken in Tarrytown, NY, while I was out and about. I once had a red Chow; however, she passed away 6 years ago, and I was extremely sad.  Now, whenever I see a Chow, I'm reminded of fond memories of her, and how she brightened my life for 12 years.  So, when I saw these puppies, my heart swooned.  Don't you think they're cute & cuddly?  I thought so!  I hope you enjoy this "Photo of the Week".  Click on image to enlarge.

NY SAME SEX MARRIAGE - WEDDING INDUSTRY NEWS

With the expected rise in marriages in New York with the passing of the same sex marriage law, it's logical to assume there will be an increase in revenue for wedding industry professionals.  It is anticipated that there will be a spike in tourists traveling to the New York to have their love recognized and get married.

New York City has launched a campaign, "NYC I Do", to encourage same-sex couples to tie the knot. It is estimated that approximately $311 million of additional revenue will be generated with the passing of this new law.

Whether or not you agree, New York has now become part of history!  See link for the entire story:  http://bit.ly/mfzY36

Are you a wedding professional in New York?  How do you feel the passing of this law will affect your business?  Please feel free to leave your comments.

This photo was taken after the wedding ceremony in the reception venue's suite where the wedding party were relaxing before entering the reception.  Vickia and her husband have their own band, so of course Vickia couldn't resist the temptation to break into song!  I just love their energy and enthusiasm!  Please click on image to enlarge. I hope you enjoy this "Wedding Wednesday" photo.

WEDDING WEDNESDAY PHOTO | MARITZA + MICHAEL

This week's "Wedding Wednesday" photo is of Maritza & Michael. This photo was taken at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach in Staten Island, NY...on a gray, rainy day.  It rained as the bride arrived for the ceremony, but then the rain decided to stop within minutes after the ceremony.  So, we seized the opportunity to take this shot with the Verrazano Bridge in the background.  Please click on image to enlarge. I hope you enjoy this "Wedding Wednesday" photo.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK | SCARSDALE, NY LANDSCAPE

This week's "Photo of the Week" was taken near Scarsdale, NY, northbound on the Bronx River Parkway.  The Bronx River Parkway was completed in 1925, and was the first modern, multi-lane limited-access parkway in North America.  I couldn't resist a beautiful sunny day, with the flowing stream and beautiful green foliage.  Click on image to enlarge.  I hope you enjoy this "Photo of the Week".

PHOTO OF THE WEEK | "THE PLANE!...THE PLANE!"

This week's "Photo of the Week" is of an Alaskan airliner that I captured as it was landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, NJ.  I've taken a few photos of planes flying overhead, but this was by far my best, as you can clearly read the logo. Click on image to enlarge.  I hope you enjoy this "Photo of the Week".

ESTEFANIA + OMAR

As a wedding photographer, I encounter many amazing couples.  A wedding that I had the honor of photographing was Estefania ["Steph"] and Omar.

I always love it when couples incorporate unique nuances into their wedding, from something that may be an heirloom, to trinkets from their cultures.  Steph and Omar were no exception, as they embraced both their Spanish and Mexican cultures.

The day began with pre-ceremony photos at Steph's Parents' home.  Immediately, I could feel the love throughout this family, including the Bride's love for her dog, who was also dressed up for the day with a black bowtie. The Parents were a gorgeous couple, and were so thrilled for their daughter's big day.  The Groom sent a surprise gift via his Best Man in the form of a Tiffany Blue jewelry box.  What girl doesn't love receiving jewelry from Tiffany's!  The closeness between the Bride, her Parents and Sister were just so lovely to witness and feel.  The Father of the Bride wore cufflinks inscribed, "Father of the Bride", and made an intimate toast to his daughter.  Before departing for the church, the Parents offered a prayer, which is a cultural tradition.
The ceremony was held at sunset at a gorgeous church in Ossining, NY, set along side the Hudson River bank.  The view was breath-taking.  There were several special nuances incorporated into this wedding ceremony:  13 gold coins were presented to the Bride by the Groom to symbolize his entrustment of all of his worldy goods into her care, and the Bride accepting these coins, symbolizing her unconditional acceptance of his trust and confidence.  The coins also represented the Bride's dowry and held well wishes for prosperity, which will become a part of the couple's family heirloom. Twelve of the coins represent Christ and His 12 Apostles.  As part of the ceremony, God Parents of the Bride and Groom gave the couple a prayer book, rosary, and kneeling pillow for the ceremony.  A beaded rosary was draped in a figure eight around the Bride & Groom after they exchanged vows to symbolize their union.

The reception was held at one of Abigail Kirsch's venues, Tappan Hill Mansion.  Family and guests were entertained by a Mariachis band during both the cocktail hour, and as a prelude to the announcement of the wedding party into the reception.  Traditional Flamenco, Merengue, and Salsa dances were on display and so fun to watch.  Although the weather was not conducive for outdoor pictures, it was a wonderful and unique wedding day!

Please enjoy some of their wedding photos.  Click on image to enlarge:
